SC TELCO EARNS FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CHAIRMAN’S AWARD FROM UNITED WAY

SC Telco Federal Credit Union won its fourth consecutive Chairman’s Award from the United Way of Greenville County for their 2009 United Way Campaign. The Chairman’s Award is given to companies whose overall United Way campaign meets four of the five following criteria.

• One or more Palmetto Society members (annual gift of $1,000 or more)
• $100 or more employee per capita
• 50% or more employee participation
• 50% or more fair share givers (at least 1% of your annual salary)
• 10% increase in employee giving

SC Telco was one of 83 companies and the only credit union to receive this award, joining companies like Fluor Corporation, C. Dan Joyner, NuVox, and Erwin-Penland Advertising.

“Year after year, I am amazed at the generosity our employees exhibit through their giving to the United Way,” said Jody Powell, Marketing Manager and United Way Coordinator for SC Telco. “Our employees believe in the United Way and know that we can make a difference in our community through giving to this fine organization.”

“This has been an outstanding campaign,” stated Steve Harkins, President and CEO of SC Telco. “We are not only embracing the credit union spirit of people helping people, we are truly Living United within the community we serve.”

SC Telco met 4 of the five criteria for the chairman award. Its employees contributed almost $300 per capita; 96.4% of employees contributed to the campaign; 50% of employees gave a “Fair Share” amount; and seven employees joined the ranks of Palmetto Society members. While their employee contributions did not increase 10%, employees did contribute $25,158, a 4.5% increase over 2008.
